Ageing causes a loss of fat around the cheeks, eye area, jowls and the neck, as well as a loss of elasticity in the skin. This results in a longer face and wrinkles due to the support of the skin not being able to provide much support. Known and a non-surgical face lift, threads are placed under the skin to stimulate collagen, tighten and life the facial structure. 


PDO Smooth Threads or Resurfacing threads or are more for tightening, stimulating collagen and a small amount of lifting. Mechanical PDO threads or Lifting threads provide support within the skin to lift sagging tissue and for mild to moderate jowling. Threads offer an alternative to injectables that improve skin laxity and help to re-contour the face in the deep layers of the skin. Less lifting threads are used than resurfacing.

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS ENTAIL?
You will be seen by either a Doctor or Registered Nurse for your initial consultation, where you will receive a treatment plan and some advice regarding the best outcome for your concerns. Photographs will be taken for treatment progress.
Local anesthetic is injected into the area, threads are inserted into the superficial layers of the skin through a cannulated needle. When this is removed the thread is left under the skin. Not every patient is a candidate for a thread lift and instead injectables may be recommended. Before the treatment, you will be marked for insertion and depending on which thread you are receiving, you may receive local aesthetic to the area. 

During the procedure small anchoring and resorbable sutures are inserted into the the fat layer of the skin, which work to gently pull and lift the skin. Once the sutures are in position they are massaged into place. The procedure usually takes around 30-60 minutes depending on how many threads are used.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Patients will notice a visible improvement immediately, results will improve as collagen production is encouraged by the threads. 

Maintenance will depend on individual case, but on average the treatment will last between 12-18 months, with results greatly improving between 3-4 months and the thread dissolving at around 6 months.

IS IT PAINFUL?
While minimally invasive, pain and discomfort may occur depending on the patient. We apply a topical anaesthetic cream before the procedure to minimise this discomfort.
IS IT PREGNANCY SAFE?
The threads themselves are safe during pregnancy, however, we would not recommend this treatment as the anesthetic used could be unsafe to the patient.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Patients may experience inflammation, minor bruising at the incision points and tenderness. Depending on the patient some find they are able to return to work the day after, others do allow around 1 week before commencing with any events and activities. Please avoid touching your face, avoid all facial procedures, strenuous exercise and sleeping face-down. 

A puckering or dimpling of the skin may occur which will settle in a few days. A full aftercare guide will be given to you after your treatment. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the clinic on (02) 4934 7826. 

A follow up and review treatment is usually booked for two weeks after your treatment to ensure optimal results are achieved.

Prices are dependant on your pracitioner, they will advise which threads are being used, how many for your concerns and how much the total treatment will be before proceeding.

Lifting threads are designed to lift the skin and less are used compared to mono threads.

MONO THREADS: from $20
Mono threads are smaller, shorter threads designed to tighten and rejuvenate the skin.

Pracitioners can use a mixture of both to achieve the desiered look.
